The Path To Success

How do I accomplish all my workload?

November 11, 2022

In one of my previous articles, I made mention of women who succeed amidst all their responsibilities. Some of them are Chief Executive Officers of large corporations, housewives, entrepreneurs, students and even religious. What do they do? How do they manage and achieve all their workloads?

Recently, I have been writing a piece which has been long overdue. This piece had already been written and published in my mind (lol), just that I am yet to put it out in black and white. My ideas on this piece keep expanding, and while the concept looks beautiful and the outcome too; accomplishing it has been a herculean task for me.

Like most women and maybe men, joggling a few more things together takes a lot of courage. This is most especially for things that are not within your structured schedule; like a 9 am to 5 pm job description. These may remain delayed or even squashed out after several attempts to bring them to fruition. People who seem to have all the time in the world, still struggle to catch up with their set goals and the reason is simple- they are getting more distracted with a bazillion things seeking their attention. From the chores to social media prompts, family responsibilities and overall fatigue from life’s hustle and making ends meet.

Rising early is one sure way of ordering, planning and achieving your goals. It is one way of improving yourself and your set outcomes. However, Daniel Pink, renowned author of When: The Scientific Secrets of Perfect Timing advised that “knowing whether you are an early bird, night owl or somewhere in between, can help you optimize your productivity throughout the day”. Pink added that the morning hours are the best time for early birds to do analytical work that requires total concentration and the reverse for night owls.

So are they more benefits for people who rise early? Early risers have more chances to increase productivity. An experienced writer shared her experience on writing in the mornings. She explained “on average, it’s best to write in the mornings for the following reasons: you have the highest level of willpower earlier in the day, you are less likely to get distracted, and the brain’s creative activity is at its peak just after it dreams and sleeps. The brain also becomes more analytical as the day progresses”.

Experts have said that the average person is fully alert one to two hours after waking until sometime between noon and three in the afternoon. This means that these periods if judiciously used, can produce great results. Irrespective of what you have to do, whether it is writing a book, planning a wedding, writing a proposal or even balancing your financial account, making out time in the morning to carry out such task will increase your productivity.

Cultivating the habit of early rising leads to an improvement in task management. Learn to maximize your early hours because it is a time when there are no outside distractions. The ideas and inspiration which you may have gotten from previous day experiences or dreams may enrich the task at hand. In summary, rising early to attend to task, can give you inner satisfaction that will last a whole day.

By the way, I made this piece by 4:30 in the morning- just a bit earlier than my rising time.
